To schedule meals after memorial services, call the Church Office at (562) 941-2558 or email them at info@calvaylm.org The purpose of this ministry is to express love and support to people in difficult times by providing an evening meal for families during serious illness or after a death. The ministry also coordinates and serves a meal for family and friends after a memorial service.
In times of blessings, the ladies of the ministry deliver meals after a birth.
Anyone can help with the ministry, including those who can't or don't have time to cook. There are several ways to get involved:
- Preparing home cooked main dishes ahead of time in disposable containers that can be frozen and readily available for delivery.
- Provide store-bought frozen dinner. These could be complete meals or individual TV type meals.
- Deliver someone else's home cooked dinner or frozen meals.
- Order meals for delivery from a restaurant, such as pizza, Chinese or Italian. This would need to be prepaid with credit card and can usually be done by phone.
- Coordinate meal delivery by phone with ministry ladies.
- Contribute to the "The Food of the Spirit Ministry" fund. These donations are specifically used for this ministry. There are many costs involved, such as paper goods, beverages, fried chicken, etc. Indicate "The Food of the Spirit Ministry" on your check.
- Volunteer to set-up and take-down tables and chairs for the memorial services and dinners. Also clean up after these dinners.
- Volunteer to clean the kitchen on a regular basis. This can be at your convience.
